I have obtained a quote and was wondering how excess works? There's no option for additional cover?

Agent

As an Australian (or Kiwi) we cannot sell Additional insurance to you online. We do elsewhere in the world. You can buy extra insurance to reduce or eliminate Excess at the desk on arrival.

Client

So if damages occur, do we have to take the risk for $4000 excess? Can you please advise how much excess is?

Agent

To see what is likely to be offered, look here:- At STEP2 of our 3 step online booking process, to the right of the car photo of your choice, is a link entitled "IMPORTANT INFORMATION". Click on this link and it will open an additional smaller window, where the terms and conditions appertaining to that particular car at your chosen location are displayed. Try a few different suppliers as they do vary.

For people to have to hire a car and ensure they have $4000 on hand in case of an accident?

Agent

Excess means, that if you completely destroyed the car, you would only pay the excess, i.e. 2000 AUD. But if you pay for the additional insurance then its down to zero. That's the way most , if not all rental car companies work.

One more question: I checked Thrifty and their website say they would close at 5pm. However, on this site, it says pick up at 7pm was fine ?

Agent

If the website shows you cars, they are open. As you are planning ahead, you might want to make the booking sooner rather than later, as rates can change.. you can cancel any reservation up to 24 hrs prior free of charge ..
